CBD

CBD

Research into the potential medical uses of cannabis components has been limited to THC in recent decades. However, in recent years there has been growing interest in other cannabinoids, particularly CBD.

Most evidence regarding the effects of CBD comes from experiments conducted on animals. Experiments conducted on rats confirm that it alleviates pain caused by nerve damage and reduces various types of inflammation. CBD also affects the nervous system. It is effective in treating epileptic seizures, prevents nausea, and kills cancer cells in breast cancer, prostate cancer, brain cancer, and other types of cancer. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties and prevents the accumulation of prion proteins in prion-infected cells, as well as preventing mad cow disease. It also has an antibacterial effect against dangerous bacteria with high antibiotic resistance. In addition, it reduced the risk of developing diabetes in animal experiments.

Only a few clinically proven studies suggest that CBD could be used therapeutically to treat various diseases and symptoms. The current evidence does not necessarily reflect the therapeutic potential for the diseases studied. However, it is also possible that CBD has not been used in the treatment of these diseases, which is why no studies have been conducted yet. For example, there are people who suffer from hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder, and the use of CBD has brought them relief, even though researchers have not scientifically proven the beneficial effects of CBD.

In the Netherlands, researchers tested various types of cannabis available in pharmacies for Medical use in a study involving 102 people. Based on the results, it can be said that the pharmacological effects varied depending on the amount of THC and CBD. This is also confirmed by interviews with patients. Dutch researchers suspect that the different effects are due to CBD counteracting some of the well-known undesirable subjective effects of THC, such as anxiety and depressive moods.
